Are Sinners Saved By the Word of God?
Yes, sinners are saved by the word of God, James says, “Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. . .25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” (James 1:21, 22, 25) The word of God is able to save your soul!
Our soul is PURIFIED by obeying the word of God “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth . . .” (I Peter 1:22)
We are BORN AGAIN by obeying the word of God. “since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;” (I Peter 1:23)
We GROW to spiritual maturity by the word of God. “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation” (I Peter 2:2) “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
The word of God is GOD’S POWER unto salvation. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16). “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (I Corinthians 1:18)
The word of God is God’s DRAWING POWER. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me” (John 6:44-45).
The WORD is essential to man’s salvation and by obeying it he is saved (I Corinthians 1:21; 1 Peter 1:22). However, the word of God by itself will not save. We are not saved by “word only.” If so, the devil would be saved. Satan knows Scripture and is able to quote it. (Matthew 4:6). He believes and trembles (James 2:19). Ye he will not be saved because he does not obey it.
Have you obeyed the truth, the word of God, that you might be saved? There’s no salvation without it! Believe (John 8:24), Repent (Acts 17:30), Confess (Acts 8:37), be Baptized (Mark 16:16).
