What Must I Do To Be Saved?
This is the most important question in the world! Whoever you may be or whatever you may achieve in this life will not matter when you stand before God. Every person MUST:
Believe In Jesus Christ. Jesus said “. . .for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24). “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6). “So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31)
Repent of your sins. Jesus said “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3, 5). “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38). “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,” (Acts 3:19). “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,” (Acts 17:30).
Confess faith in Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus said, “3Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32, 33).
“Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” (Acts 8:37) “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9, 10)
Be baptized for the remission of your sins. “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16). “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;” (Acts 2:38) “And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.” (Acts 10:48). “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’”(Acts 22:16) “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.” (Romans 6:3-6). “There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” (1 Peter 3:21).
Remain Faithful Until Death. Jesus said, “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10). “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58). “But he who endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 10:22)
Without obedience to these steps, no man can be saved. God has provided his part: Grace, Christ, etc. Man must do his part faith, obedience and remaining faithful until the end. Faith without works is dead (James 2:17-26). Are you ready to obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:7-9)?
