What Must I Do To Be Approved of God?
There are several things necessary to be pleasing in God’s sight. Far too many people chose to “go their own way” and never consider what God wants. They are satisfied that if they feel comfortable with what they are doing religiously, then God accepts it. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Many religious people will be lost at the judgment (Matthew 7:21-23). What will make me approve of God?
An unswerving LOVE of the TRUTH (God’s Word). Men are condemned when they do not love the Truth. “and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” (2 Thessalonians 2:10). Far too many have their eyes closed to the Truth. “For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’” (Matthew 13:15). It’s not what “I” think or what “I” feel but what God says that matters. We must desire the Truth even when it conflicts with what “I” believe!
A determined desire to OBEY the TRUTH (God’s Word). Men are condemned when they do not obey the Truth. “but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,” (Romans 2:8). Men are saved by obeying the Truth. “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,” (1 Peter 1:22). “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32).
A resolved commitment to live a GODLY life according to the TRUTH. “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,” (Titus 2:11-12). “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8). This is only done when we follow the Bible!
