Does God Accept All Worship Offered To Him?
No, He does not! Of all the worship directed unto God, much of it is not acceptable because it is either not offered from the “heart” or it is not offered according to the “truth.” Jesus said, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24). Two major points must be true before worship is acceptable before God: it must be “in spirit” and it must be “in truth.” To leave off either one is to make worship vain.
One may worship with the right intentions, from a sincere heart, but the acts in which they engage are not according to the Truth (Word) of God. One’s worship, therefore, is vain. However, one may worship with all the acts in which they engage being correct, directed by the Truth (Word) of God, and yet their worship still not be acceptable because it is not from the heart and proper motive.
Any time men worship “Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” it is vain worship.” “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” (Matthew 15:8-9). There are many who are sincere of heart, yet the actions in which they engage are contrary to the Truth. Their worship is vain because they teach and practice the “doctrine of men.” All doctrine not taught in the Bible are doctrines of men. Such doctrines are in abundance and are the very foundation of every denomination. Man-made names, man-made creeds and man-made doctrines are not of God. “Faith only” is not of God and is condemned in James 2:24— “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.” “Once save always saved” is not of God and is condemned in Galatians 5:4 — “…you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.” “Mechanical instruments of music” are not of God and are condemned in Ephesians 5:19 — “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,” “The mourners bench” is not of God and is condemned in Acts 2:38 — “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
