According to John 21:25, “ there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” Therefore, in such a brief space I will list a few facts about our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ and his body the church.
Jesus is the founder and builder of the church: “. . . on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). the church of Christ is the kingdom of Christ which was established in 33 A.D. on Pentecost (Mark 9:1; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1-47). Churches founded by men will not stand. Jesus said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.” (Matthew 15:13)
Jesus loved the church and died for it: Ephesians 5:25 says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,” How dare anyone say the church is not important or essential to salvation! It it’s now, Jesus died in vain.
Jesus shed His blood for the church. Acts 20:28 says, “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” All of creation was spoken into existence without shedding of a drop of blood. But, the church could not be established without it! How marvelous it is!!
Jesus is the head of the church: “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” (Ephesians 1:22-23) The pope is not the head of the church, nor is any other man. The church has only one head, Jesus Christ. He, being the head, has all authority to dictate as he desires (Matthew 28:18).
Jesus adds the saved to the church. “…praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:47). The saved are in the church! They are put there by Christ Himself. No other means of entrance can be found. Has the Lord added you to the church?
Jesus will save the church. “For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.” (Ephesians 5:23). His body is the church (Colossians 1:18). If you are a faithful member of his body, you will be saved, if not, you will be lost.
